Funded collaborative R&D programs and initiatives

The Government of Canada is helping businesses and academia work together with NRC researchers to foster new technology and research ideas leading to breakthroughs in areas that matter to Canadians. Up to $27 million in grant and contribution funding is available each year for collaborators working with the NRC.

What is collaborative R&D?

Collaborative research and development (R&D) at the NRC helps bring together our national network of researchers and facilities with collaborators from industry, academia, and governments to work on game-changing scientific discoveries and technological breakthroughs to advance specific objectives in a variety of scientific disciplines. Grant and contribution (G&C) funding is provided through the NRC's National Program Office (NPO) to collaborators who offer complementary expertise. Learn more about grant and contribution funding.
