Cybersecurity

Technical service highlights

In a connected, digital world, organizations must safeguard themselves against increasing cyber threats, while maintaining integrity and optimizing their online uptime and resiliency. We conduct research in cybersecurity with industry and government, to help prevent and address cyber threats to supply chains, transportation, energy and infrastructure operations. We also collaborate with academic institutions to fuel innovation that contributes to local and national technology clusters.

What we offer

Housed within the NRC's Digital Technologies Research Centre, our team's core competencies include:

  • artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)
  • computer science
  • cyber intelligence, intrusion detection, cyber forensics, and cyber resilience
  • data security and privacy
  • data science and mining
  • human-computer interaction
  • mathematics
  • psychology and human cognition
  • quantum computing and cryptography
  • secure identity and trust

We apply this expertise toward:

  • understanding human factors in responding to cyber threats
  • creating, supporting and performing cyber readiness exercises
  • protecting supply chains: autonomous unmanned vehicles (AUV), mobility and transportation, the internet of things (IoT)
  • protecting critical infrastructure in smart grids and smart cities: (IoT), industrial internet of things (IIoT), and operational technologies (OT).

Applications and software

  • Cyber threat exercise platform

Why work with us

  • Human factors: Our expertise in human-computer interaction, psychology and human cognition provides an edge in understanding the human factors involved in upholding and challenging cybersecurity.
  • Local presence and relevance: Our team is based in Fredericton and Montréal, where we have strong ties with academic research communities. Our local presence and research focus in these cities reflect the priorities of their tech clusters, namely smart grids and cities, and mobility and transportation in the supply chain.
