Vice-President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer

Karen Cahill was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer in January 2025. In this capacity, she oversees the operations of the Finance and Procurement Services; the Chief Information Officer Branch, including the Client Service Centre; Client Agreements and Intellectual Property; Real Property Planning and Management; Health, Safety and the Environment; as well as the Security Branch.

Prior to joining the NRC, she worked as Assistant Secretary of the Corporate Services Sector (CSS), and Chief Financial Officer at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat since July 2018. She was responsible for Finance, Facilities, Procurement, Security and Information Management and Information Technology. Karen was also responsible for the Government of Canada Phoenix Claims Office.

In addition, Karen worked at Transport Canada, where she held the position of Director General, Financial Planning C Resource Management. She also spent 4 years at the Privy Council Office as the Executive Director of Finance, Planning and Administration Directorate and the Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

With over 30 years of experience in Finance and Corporate Services, Karen held various executive level positions at Social Development Canada (now ESDC), Industry Canada, Department of National Defense and the Privy Council Office.

Karen is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agrées du Ǫuébec and a graduate of the Université du Québec.
