Roles and responsibilities

I am a Research Officer in the Multilingual Text Processing (MTP) team, part of the Digital Technologies Research Centre (DT) at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

Current research and/or projects

My research focuses on topics related to machine translation. Recently, this has included computer aided translation, low-resource machine translation, and evaluation (both human and automatic) of machine translation. I have also been involved in the Indigenous Language Technologies project, primarily on topics related to Inuktut.

  • Machine translation and evaluation: research on building and appropriately evaluating neural machine translation systems
  • Low-resource machine translation: research on translation between languages with small(er) text corpora
  • Computer aided translation: research on technologies for translators and other users interacting with machine translation output
