Executive Director, The PIER
Andrew Black is the director of innovation for the Port of Halifax, and executive director of The PIER, a global centre of excellence for innovation and collaboration in transportation, supply chain and logistics which opened its doors in November 2021.
While at the Port of Halifax, Andrew has led award-winning initiatives that prioritize collaboration and operational transparency, including the Port Operations Center and the Terminal Traffic Monitoring System. He was the founding chair of the Canadian Port's Digitization Working Group. Andrew has led AI initiatives on cleansing shipping data, scenario modeling and contact tracing, and he has led the creation of an Innovation Framework and Digital Roadmap for the Port of Halifax.
Prior to the Port of Halifax, Andrew worked with Nicom heading up business development for their Maritime and Interactive divisions, as well as enterprise accounts. Outside of work Andrew is actively involved in his community.
