The Nanotechnology Research Centre has recently been awarded the 2020 University of British Columbia (UBC) Science Co-op Employer Recognition Award for providing outstanding student work experiences.
"We are very fortunate to host excellent co-op students in our lab," said Marek Malac, Senior Research Officer in microscopy and student supervisor. "It is not only their contribution to a project's progress, but also seeing the quality and motivation of young scientists that makes the research meaningful and enjoyable."
Launched in 2017 and awarded annually, the UBC Science Co-op Employer Recognition Award recognizes outstanding valuable work opportunities provided to co-op students by an organization. The award recognized the Nanotechnology Research Centre for the high quality of experiential learning, mentorship, and opportunities for professional and personal growth. The Research Centre has effectively demonstrated a strong partnership with, and support of, the UBC Science Co-op Program and contributions to various UBC Science Co-op extra-curricular activities. Since 2006, Marek Malac has hosted nearly 10 UBC students to work alongside him on interesting projects.
Congratulations to all the Nanotechnology Research Centre employees for providing enriching student experiences!
