Status: Active

Overview

Under the Arctic program, researchers are developing tools and technologies to:

  • improve the safety and efficiency of shipping operations in ice-covered waters
  • optimize ice management and investigate ice loads on offshore structures
  • improve the performance of life-saving appliances in extreme and remote environments
  • monitor, mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change in Canada's North
  • develop solutions for oil spills in the Arctic
  • design more reliable and relevant infrastructure to ensure the sustainable and low-impact development of the North, while also increasing the quality of life for northerners
