Funding is available through the NRC and Mitacs for graduate and post-doctoral internships. Interns are placed with new or existing NRC collaborators who are working on projects related to one of the NRC's Challenge or Cluster Support programs.
Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that designs and delivers research and training programs in Canada. Mitacs' Accelerate and Globalink Research Awards programs help place students from Canada and Germany with Canadian firms, not-for-profit organizations, or universities:

Internships under the Mitacs Accelerate program
Internships under the Mitacs Accelerate program provide funding for graduate and post-doctoral students to support projects related to the NRC's Challenge or Cluster Support program objectives.
Research is conducted under the joint supervision of the NRC, the host organization (a Canadian private sector business or not-for-profit organization), and the academic principal investigator. The research is jointly funded by Mitacs, the host organization, and the NRC's National Program Office.
If you are a potential collaborator and have an idea for a project to support Challenge and Cluster Support program objectives, contact the relevant program director.
Internships related to Mitacs Globalink Research Awards
The Mitacs Globalink Research Award supports Canadian-based research collaborations between Canada and select partner countries (currently Germany only).
Under an NRC-Mitacs Globalink Research Award, graduate students from RWTH Aachen University receive a research award to support a 6 to 12 months internship that furthers the NRC's Challenge or Cluster Support program objectives. The research is conducted under the joint supervision of the NRC, RWTH Aachen University and the Canadian host university, and is jointly funded by Mitacs, the Canadian host university, and the NRC's National Program Office. RWTH Aachen University funds the balance of the student's costs.
If you are a potential collaborator (Canadian host university) and have an idea for a project to support the NRC's Challenge or Cluster Support program objectives, contact the relevant NRC Challenge or Cluster Support program director.
