360o video: Microbial fermentation pilot plant - Transcript

Welcome to the NRC's Microbial fermentation pilot plant in Montréal, Canada!

This is where we help our collaborators optimize and scale up processes to make peptides, proteins, enzymes, nutraceuticals and more, using bacterial and yeast expression systems.

The cells that make up these living factories need media to grow. On the top left is our 1500 L media prep tank, and on the main floor, our 200 L feed tank.  We can develop custom media and feeds for your process.

On the right are the fermentation bioreactors that make up skid #1. Our experts can scale your process up through 20 and 150 L reactors, all the way to the star of our operation: a 1500 L fermentation bioreactor. After we produce, it's time to harvest! We can centrifuge up to 1500 L of broth and break up 200 L of cells per day.

Our purification experts then use columns to purify your target product.

We document your process in batch records and provide SOP s, DOPs, and training to ensure smooth process transfer to contract manufacturing organizations.

Thanks for visiting! We hope you enjoyed it. If you’d like more information, contact our experts today!
