National Research Council Canada – Japan office

Opened in October 2019, the National Research Council's (NRC) Japan office is the point of entry for researchers and businesses in Japan who are interested in research and development (R&D) collaborations with the NRC, or with innovative Canadian companies.

Canadian small to medium-size companies interested in collaborations with Japan should refer to our National Research Council Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP).

Canadian organizations may also receive support from Global Affairs Canada.

Why work with us

As the Government of Canada's largest science and research organization, the NRC has the mandate to take research from the lab to the marketplace, where it can enhance people's lives and address some of the world's pressing challenges.

We are a nexus point for academia, industry and government. With 14 research centres covering numerous disciplines and technologies, we:

  • encourage research excellence
  • engage with the ecosystems that bring together scientific knowledge, innovation support, and industrial capabilities
  • expand the ways we help companies grow and scale
  • develop the people and skills that will drive the next decades of discovery

We can work with Japanese organizations such as yours to develop new technologies, and through our extensive network across Canada, introduce you to innovative companies developing solutions to your problems.
