NRC possesses world-class expertise for enhancing and optimizing the use of biofuels in gas turbines. Our Gas turbine research facilities will help you develop next generation technologies in fuel flexibility, alternative fuels, emissions and operability, using an extensive range of test methods and equipment for fuel atomization and combustion.

(On screen: Spray rig facility)

NRC's Spray Rig Facility has unique capabilities to optimize spray performance within your combustion engine.

Start by characterizing your spray, from droplet size to velocity. Our laser-based diagnostic tools record your results with utmost precision.

The rig excels at high-temperature testing - supporting a variety of biofuel types, from high-viscosity pyrolysis oil for stationary power, to other liquid fuels. Our rig is capable of testing injectors at high pressure and fuels heated up to 590 Kelvin.

(On screen: Low pressure combustion test facility)

Optimize the performance of your combustion system in NRC's Low Pressure Combustion Test Facility.

Here you can test and validate innovative concepts to improve the fundamental performance of your combustion system, in a high precision, cost-effective low-pressure environment.

Characterize the operability of your prototype with our advanced, non-intrusive diagnostic tools, which acquire data via a four-way optical access.

Or, validate its fuel flexibility; the facility is capable of supplying synthesized gas fuel mixtures and alternative liquid fuels, in addition to natural gas and diesel.

In-situ continuous emissions monitoring systems are also available.
