NRC facilities renewal

The NRC's advanced materials research facility in Mississauga, Ontario

The Government of Canada is investing $962.2M over the next 8 years and $121M ongoing to renew the NRC's facilities and real property, as part of the modernization of the NRC to better invent, innovate and prosper. This generational investment underscores the commitment to fostering scientific exploration and ensuring that Canada remains at the forefront of global scientific discovery.

The NRC maintains a network of scientific facilities across Canada that provide researchers in business, academia and government with access to the sites and expertise needed to innovate, develop, scale up, certify and demonstrate technologies.

The revitalization of the NRC's facilities is an exciting opportunity to advance research excellence, improve partnerships with universities and industry, and increase the impact of the NRC's work in support of Canada's science, technology and innovation goals. The revitalization will help support key sectors such as aerospace and defence, advanced manufacturing, construction, and life sciences.

The NRC's history is rich, with over 100 years of conducting and supporting ground-breaking research in Canada and beyond. This investment ensures we can continue this legacy well into the future.
