Indigeneity in Astronomy

Missing media item.

The National Research Council of Canada operates the Government of Canada's telescopes, in Canada and abroad, allowing the Canadian astronomical community to participate in some of the world's leading research facilities.

The NRC is committed to listening to and learning from local Indigenous communities, to better understand how we can support Indigeneity at both our domestic and international observatories, and in the research we do.

As recommended in the Canadian Astronomy Long Range Plan 2020-2030 (PDF, 6.33 MB), the NRC intends to work with the Canadian astronomical community and Indigenous partners to develop a set of guiding principles for the astronomy facilities and infrastructure in which Canada participates.
