Roger Scott-Douglas announced as Acting President of National Research Council of Canada

Today, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is pleased to welcome Roger Scott‑Douglas as Acting President for a period of 90 days. As Dr. Scott‑Douglas steps up to lead the organization through this transition period, he will also continue in his role as Secretary to the COVID‑19 Vaccine Task Force.

Mr. Scott‑Douglas was previously the Secretary General of the NRC Council, and was responsible for the International Relations Office, the Policy, Strategy and Performance group, and the Corporate Secretariat. Dr. Scott‑Douglas also held senior executive positions at the Treasury Board Secretariat and Employment and Social Development Canada (formerly Human Resources Development Canada), and a senior position at the Ministère du Budget, des Comptes publics et de la Fonction publique in France. He has undertaken assignments with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.

The NRC would like to thank its outgoing president, Mr. Iain Stewart, and wish him success in his new role as President of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). Mr. Stewart will be returning to the NRC in 2022 to complete the three remaining years of his mandate.
