Current research and/or projects

  • Maintaining the safety and effectiveness of ice roads.

  • Investigating frazil ice and its propensity to clog water intakes and contribute to ice jams.

  • Improving our understanding of ice-seabed interaction for the protection of offshore pipelines.

  • Assessing the physics and mechanics of ice deformation during its interaction with ship hulls, bridge piers and other such structures exposed to ice action.
