Roles and responsibilities
Research officer at NRC Brookside (Winnipeg) with a focus on advanced manufacturing of sustainable packaging and other materials. Lead, manage and develop internal and external scientific projects aimed at assessing effective solutions to Canada’s current and future environmental challenges through innovation and end-of-life considerations for plastic and paper materials, including recycled content and biodegradability.
Collaborating with the Boucherville "Polymers and Bioproducts" team on eco-responsible materials.
Current research and/or projects
- Sustainable packaging
- Biodegradable products
- Renewable materials
- Recycled content
- Life cycle assessment (LCA)
Research and/or project statements
Expertise in the area of sustainable thermoplastic materials including biobased, biodegradable and recyclables. This includes polymers and composites and their processing, manufacturing and characterization for various applications.
Main research targets environmentally friendly single-use packaging alternatives and reduced carbon footprint products, both plastic film/sheets and paper-based packaging, along with life cycle and end-of-life considerations through biodegradability and recycling scenarios. Additionally limiting food wastage and monitoring spoilage through smart packaging methods.
