Lars Schreiber

Roles and responsibilities

Associate Research Officer: My research focuses on generating knowledge regarding the interaction between microorganisms and their environment, and then applying this knowledge within the context of microbial resource management.

Theme lead: In addition to my research activities, I also lead the theme on "Pollution Remediation Technology" within the NRC's Ocean program.

Current research and/or projects

My current research focuses on investigating the effects of spilled petroleum products, such as crude oil, on microbial communities for biomonitoring and bioremediation purposes. I am primarily investigating these effects using molecular biological tools such as marker gene and metagenomic shotgun sequencing.
