Roles and responsibilities
I am a research officer in the ventilation and indoor air quality group.
Current research and/or projects
My research interests include designing and conducting studies evaluating the effectiveness of building technologies that sustain healthy indoor environments. I also interested in conducting cost benefit analysis to support decision makers assessing a potential policy change.
- indoor radon reduction of building technologies, including foundation radon barrier, active/passive soil depressurization systems and heat/energy recovery ventilation systems
- indoor air quality evaluation in energy efficient buildings (new designs and retrofits)
- quantitatively evaluation of the health benefits gained and healthcare costs averted for residential interventions proposed to reduce exposure to indoor radon and to overheating
Education
- Doctorate of Philosophy, Epidemiology, University of Ottawa, 2019
- Masters of Applied Science, Civil Engineering, University of Ottawa, 2010
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours), Civil Engineering, Queens University, 1994
Professional activities/interests
- member of a United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) expert group evaluating public exposures to ionizing radiation
Affiliations
- member of the International Society of Indoor Air and Climate (ISIAQ)
