Roles and responsibilities

Programmer Analyst (CS)

Currently working in the Remote Health Technologies team in MD as a Full Stack Developer to support the development of multiple projects and collaborations with multiple institutions, including "Douglas Mental Health University Institute", and "NovaTek International". The tools/languages I use are Docker, Docker Compose, MongoDB, React.js, Nginx, GitLab, Microsoft Hyper-V, Visual Studio Code.

Cognitive Health Technologies Collaborator/Developer

Worked with the CHT team in Fall '21-Summer '22 as a co-op student to kickstart development of a Virtual Reality (VR) Phantom Limb Pain Therapy project in collaboration with The University of Manitoba. I developed the VR solution using tools/languages such as Unity, C#, GitHub, Redmine, Blender. This solution was developed for the Meta (Oculus) Quest 2 VR Headset.

Current research and/or projects

NovaTek International (2022-Present): As part of the Remote Health Technologies team, I work with multiple researchers to implement the web connectivity of a patient-facing VR therapy app, so that clinicians are able to see the progress that a patient is making with their exercises from a remote web portal and be able to push new exercise plan configurations to a given network connected headset.

Douglas Mental Health Institute (2022): In concert with the Project Lead, I Dockerised a Full Stack Web App to be deployed in a Docker-Compose environment on a remote Virtual Private Server Production environment. I did some Frontend web development work on this project as well, based on client feedback and input. My Docker experience allowed me to grow into a Deployment Lead role on this project, so when there was a new release ready to publish, I was in charge of deploying the new features to the production environment, while allowing for minimal downtime when the environment was undergoing upgrades.

Phantom Limb Pain Therapy (2021-Present): Within the Cognitive Health Technologies team, I developed a VR environment/game simulation for lower-limb amputee's (LLA) to "play" under the supervision/instruction of clinical staff and go through exercises relating to retaining the LLA's brain's neural pathways to be more focused and less painful. The system was developed around the needs of LLAs, with the aims of providing them with a realistic visual representation of their missing limb in an interactive Virtual Reality environment.
