A national public review took place from May 1 to June 30, 2006 on the following proposed interim technical changes:

  • Hot water storage and delivery at fixtures
  • ASME/CSA standards on plumbing fittings
  • ASTM E 2190 standard on insulating glass.

The proposed interim changes affect the following National Model Codes:

  • the National Building Code of Canada 2005 (NBC), and
  • the National Plumbing Code of Canada 2005 (NPC).

The purpose of this public review is to:

  • provide Code users and stakeholders with a detailed look at the proposed interim technical changes, and
  • seek comment on each proposed interim change as to whether it should be approved, altered, or rejected.

The public review closed on June 30 2006, after which comments will no longer be accepted. The relevant CCBFC standing committee will review every comment that was received up to that date. The standing committee will then either withdraw the interim change, recommend that it be reviewed further for future consideration as a proposed change, or recommend that it be approved, with or without modification. The technical changes that are approved by the CCBFC will be published as interim changes to the 2005 National Building Code and/or National Plumbing Code.
