Code compliance opinion
It is the opinion of the Canadian Construction Materials Centre that the evaluated product, when used as thermal insulation in accordance with the conditions and limitations stated in this evaluation, complies with the following codes:
National Building Code of Canada 2015
|ID||Code provision||Solution type|
|09-25-02-02-00-0-00||188.8.131.52. Insulation Materials||Acceptable|
National Building Code of Canada 2020
|ID||Code provision||Solution type|
|184.108.40.206.||220.127.116.11. Insulation Materials||Acceptable|
The above opinion is based on the evaluation by the CCMC of technical evidence provided by the evaluation holder, and is bound by the stated conditions and limitations. For the benefit of the user, a summary of the technical information that forms the basis of this evaluation has been included.
Product nameAmvic Silverboard XS 0.7 pcf
Product descriptionThe product is a low density (nominally 11 kg/m 3) board type expanded polystyrene (EPS) foamed plastic insulation material intended for above-grade, wall cavity applications, with a reflective, perforated, laminated foil facer on both sides.
This evaluation is limited to products produced at the following plants:
|Product name||Manufacturing plants|
|Calgary, AB, CA||Scarborough, ON, CA|

Conditions and limitations
The CCMC’s compliance opinion is bound by this product being used in accordance with the conditions and limitations set out below.
- The evaluation of this product was limited to above-grade wall cavity insulation for Part 9 construction.
- Due to the decreased density of this product (compared with CAN/ULC-S701 compliant EPS), it may only be used as an above-grade wall cavity insulation material where the material is not intended to resist compressive stress (i.e., not intended for use as a sheathing material or below grade exterior applications).
- The material must be installed according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions and must be mechanically fastened to a substructure by cap screws.
- The product must be clearly identified on the product label as an above-grade wall cavity insulation only, and bear the CCMC number referenced above.
This evaluation is based on demonstrated conformance with the following criteria:
