Product information

Product name

Adhesive 1263/Hardener 9563

Product description

The product is a 2-component melamine-formaldehyde adhesive for engineered wood products.

Adhesive 1263 is a liquid melamine-formaldehyde resin that is mixed with Hardener 9563, a liquid acid catalyst, to form a cross-linked melamine polymer adhesive that can be cured using radio frequency, elevated temperature or ambient temperature.

The adhesive is designed to be used as the primary adhesive in the manufacture of structural wood products, such as glued laminated beams, I-joists and structural finger joints, that are used under exterior exposure conditions.

  Technical information

This evaluation is based on demonstrated conformance with the following criteria:

Evaluation requirements
Criteria number Criteria name
CSA O112.9-10Evaluation of Adhesives for Structural Wood Products (Exterior Exposure)

CSA O112.9, "Evaluation of Adhesives for Structural Wood Products (Exterior Exposure)"

Exterior exposure adhesives are used primarly to bond solid wood to solid wood material in structural wood products such as laminated lumber, edge-glued lumber, and finger-joined lumber designed for wet or exterior service conditions. Adhesives for exterior use include those subjected to repeated wetting and drying and continous use under high humidity, but do not include those used in below-ground, ground-contact, and marine uses. This standard is not restricted to a specific type of adhesive.

Disclaimer

This evaluation is issued by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC), part of the Construction Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). The evaluation must be read in the context of the entire CCMC Registry of Product Assessments and the legislated applicable building code in effect.

The CCMC was established in 1988 on behalf of the applicable regulator (i.e., the provinces and territories) to ensure—through assessment—conformity of alternative and acceptable solutions to regional building codes as determined by the local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) as part of the issuance of a building permit.

It is the responsibility of the local AHJs, design professionals, and specifiers to confirm that the evaluation is current and has not been withdrawn or superseded by a later issue. Please refer to the website or contact:
