The products are one-component, polyurethane expanding foam, which can be used as a sealant to maintain continuity and control air leakage at penetrations (i.e., windows and doors) within the Dow WEATHERMATE™ Housewrap air barrier system, or in the case of the GREAT STUFF™ Multipurpose White, within the Dupont Tyvek® HomeWrap® air barrier system. The product is packaged in pressurized containers and is available in various sizes.
Note: The CAN/ULC-S710.1 standard specifies that durability of the foam is assessed as the continuity component in an air barrier system between:
- the principal plane of airtightness (i.e., polyethylene sheet or other proprietary products specified as the designated air barrier system); and
- the window or door (i.e., wood, vinyl, aluminum).
The following table lists the results of testing the wood and vinyl elements, which were sealed to the specified air barrier material (excluding the GREAT STUFF Multipurpose White) as part of the proprietary air barrier system. The durability of the product was assessed with the following substrates at the window/wall interface:
|Window or door frame||Air barrier material||Result|
|Wood||Dow WEATHERMATE™ Housewrap||pass|
|Vinyl||Dow WEATHERMATE™ Housewrap||pass|
The followng table lists the results of testing the wood and vinyl elements, which were sealed to the specified air barrier material, using the GREAT STUFF™ Multipurpose White as part of the proprietary air barrier system. The durability of the product was assessed with the following substrates at the window/wall interface:
|Window or door frame||Air barrier material||Result|
|Wood||Dupont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®||pass|
|Vinyl||Dupont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®||pass|

This evaluation is issued by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC), part of the Construction Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). The evaluation must be read in the context of the entire CCMC Registry of Product Assessments and the legislated applicable building code in effect.
The CCMC was established in 1988 on behalf of the applicable regulator (i.e., the provinces and territories) to ensure—through assessment—conformity of alternative and acceptable solutions to regional building codes as determined by the local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) as part of the issuance of a building permit.
It is the responsibility of the local AHJs, design professionals, and specifiers to confirm that the evaluation is current and has not been withdrawn or superseded by a later issue. Please refer to the website or contact:
