It is the opinion of the Canadian Construction Materials Centre that the evaluated product, when used as foundation wall drainage material in accordance with the conditions and limitations stated in this evaluation, complies with the following code:

The above opinion(s) is/are based on the evaluation by the CCMC of technical evidence provided by the evaluation holder, and is bound by the stated conditions and limitations. For the benefit of the user, a summary of the technical information that forms the basis of this evaluation has been included.
The product is a high-density, low-heat formed, polyethylene sheet roll. The material has a dimpled surface on one side that provides an air gap between the concrete wall and the adjacent soil. The sheet thickness is approximately 0.7 mm. The product is available in rolled sheet form that is 1.22 to 2.44 m (4 to 8 ft.) wide and 20 m (65.5 ft.) long. When two sheets are joined side by side, they must be overlapped by 200 mm to 300 mm with the dimples meshing.
To ensure correct application, a range of accessories, such as fasteners, anchors and moulding strips, are included with the product. Photos of the product can be seen in Figure 1 and Figure 2 below.

Conditions and limitations
The CCMC’s compliance opinion is bound by this product being used in accordance with the conditions and limitations set out below.
- Based on the evidence provided, the product has been classified as Type 2, Class B (cups facing soil).
- The Class B product is a dimpled membrane designed to act as a protective layer or a capillary-breaking layer against the foundation wall to protect the wall against transient or intermittent water that may come in contact with its surface.
- The Type 2 product has been evaluated for use in vertical applications in depths up to 3.7 m below grade. Applications greater than 3.7 m are considered to be outside the scope of this evaluation.
- The product must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In the event of conflict between the manufacturer’s instructions and local building codes, local building codes shall govern.
- The product was evaluated for use against cast-in-place and concrete block foundations, and must cover the foundation wall from the top of the footing to the final grade.
- Unit masonry walls and concrete walls shall have all holes and recesses sealed with mortar. The product must be installed on surfaces that are clean and dry, and free of ice, snow, frost, dust, dirt, oil, grease, cracks, projections and depressions, loose particles, and debris.
- The product is only one portion of the total foundation drainage system, which consists of a combination of design and construction processes that use different products. In particular, the product must be bent at the footing to guide water past the cold joint to a drainage pipe located outside of the footing at the bottom of the wall. This pipe will drain the water collected by the product toward an outflow (i.e., sewer). The product relies on a foundation wall drainage system that conforms to either Subsection 9.14.3., Drainage Tile and Pipe, or Subsection 9.14.4., Granular Drainage Layer, of Division B of the OBC 2017.
- The placement and grading of backfill must conform to the requirements of Subsection 9.12.3., Backfill, of Division B of the OBC 2017. It is recommended that an impervious “topping off” layer of clay or silt material be placed on top of the backfill with a positive slope leading surface water away from the building.
- The product must be protected from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light (sunlight) within a maximum of 30 days of its installation.
- Long-term performance of a drainage system will depend on local conditions, such as the soil type, hydrogeology of the site, mineralogy and presence of microorganisms in the soil (i.e., iron ochre). Compliance with this evaluation does not free the project from requiring proper engineering design of the drainage system.
- The performance of the fixture used to anchor the product in the wall was evaluated. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to define the pattern and spacing of anchors, considering the anchor strength as well as site-specific issues, such as the type of soil, how it will interact with the product and the backfilling method used.
- The top of the membrane and all vertical joints and terminations must be mechanically fastened with trims, molding strips, termination bars or other accessories to prevent soil particles from entering behind the membrane. Overlaps or joints that are occasionally exposed to a head of water must be sealed to avoid water entry and associated dragging of soil particles between the membrane and the foundation wall. Accessories used to anchor the product are part of the evaluation.
- The products’ label and/or packaging must be clearly identified with the following:
- the manufacturer’s name or logo; and
- the phrase “CCMC 14722-R”.
