Product description

The product operates as a basement floor drain and a sub-slab drainage system. The product includes seepage ports that collect water under the basement floor slab and direct the water by gravity through piping to the municipal storm drainage system. The floor drain has a built-in backwater valve to prevent backflow from the storm drain from entering the structure. The system includes a cast-in-place footing sleeve to allow drainage from the exterior face of the footing to the product. The figure below shows a cross-section of a typical basement floor slab and how Fiodrain is incorporated into the sub-slab drainage system.

  Conditions and limitations

The CCMC’s compliance opinion is bound by this product being used in accordance with the conditions and limitations set out below.

  • The product is intended to be used as a floor drain and also as part of a sub-slab drainage system.
  • The floor drain also has a backwater valve to prevent water from entering the building if there is a surcharge in the storm water sewer system.
  • The product must not be used in areas where soil gas control is required.
  • The floor drain opening must be capped and sealed when located in areas that may be exposed to liquid contaminants, such as a toilet placed in the vicinity of the drain.
  • Drainage disposal of the product is to be in accordance with Subsection 9.14.5., Drainage Disposal, of Division B of the NBC 2015.
  • The gravel or crushed stone must be clean granular material containing not more than 10% of material that will pass through a 4-mm sieve.
  • The installation of the product must be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Technical evidence

Material requirements

The product’s floor drain components meet the material requirements of CSA B79-08, “Commercial and Residential Drains and Cleanouts.”
