CCMC application - conditions

As part of the process followed in the technical evaluation of construction products by the CCMC, the proponent agrees to certain conditions. Some of these conditions are reproduced here because they form part of each Report or Listing.

To be eligible for a CCMC evaluation, the applicant has warranted that he or she:

  1. is an individual or a duly authorized officer of a corporate body licensed to conduct business
  2. is in a position to exercise control over the quality of the product submitted for evaluation or over its distribution in Canada
  3. will inform the CCMC of any licensees or sub-manufacturers that may be granted the right to manufacture all or part of the product.

A CCMC Evaluation Listing or Report is not issued for a product until such product is fully developed and production facilities are in place and operable.

A CCMC evaluation is undertaken in respect to a product manufactured, assembled or processed at a particular manufacturing facility and will apply only to products manufactured at that facility. If a new manufacturing facility is to be added to an existing Evaluation Listing or Report, partial or complete testing of the product manufactured at that particular facility may be required.

A CCMC Evaluation Listing or Report is valid for one year. Its validity, however, may be renewed annually upon receipt of an affidavit from the applicant affirming the fact that the product continues to be in commercial production and is unchanged from the product last evaluated.

Construction products are re-evaluated at three-year intervals. Partial or complete re-testing may be required at re-evaluation depending on the nature of the product, the manufacturing process, date of last testing and changes to requirements in codes and standards.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) holds the copyright with respect to all CCMC publications, except that the applicant of a product with a valid CCMC evaluation number may reproduce the Report or Listing in its entirety without any alteration. The proponent must agree to make no other use whatsoever, of NRC's and CCMC's names, logos or initials without the express written consent of NRC, except as used in the published Evaluation Listing or Report.

Each evaluated product must be identified with the CCMC Number as follows: "CCMC XXXXX-L" or "CCMC XXXXX-R," where XXXXX is replaced by the appropriate number. This reference must be clearly visible and legible and, wherever possible, be located permanently on the product itself. If this is not possible, another suitable location (e.g. container, packaging, shop drawings) may be allowed at CCMC's discretion.

In no way may a proponent represent or imply that a product is covered by a CCMC Evaluation Listing, Report or number if this Evaluation Listing, Report or number is still pending or no longer valid.

An Evaluation Listing or Report will be withdrawn by the CCMC if the applicant confirms that the Listing or Report is no longer required, if the product fails to perform in a satisfactory manner under field conditions, or if the applicant fails to fulfill his/her contractual obligations with respect to the Evaluation Listing or Report.

If it should become apparent, in the opinion of the CCMC, that a product for which an Evaluation Report or Listing has been issued may pose a danger to the health or safety of the user, the CCMC will advise the applicant and any appropriate regulatory authorities of the potential danger.
