The English and French radio networks of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation carry the NRC time signal once per day.
English broadcast: 1 pm Eastern Standard or Daylight Time
French broadcast: 12 noon Eastern Standard or Daylight Time
The time signal produced by the NRC is accurate, however, the radio time signal may be routed via 1 or 2 communications satellite hops, being delayed by 0.25 seconds per hop.
Additional delays may be introduced by the CBC internal signal distribution and broadcast system. In several cities across Canada (e.g., Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal & Vancouver), the new HD radio transmitters introduced by the CBC generate a delay of up to 10 seconds in the broadcasts of the official NRC time signal.
Using the internet or digital radio to receive the CBC time signal could also introduce additional large and unpredictable signal delays.
